ALL STAND-ALONE HEALTH INSURERS AND GENERAL INSURERS (OTHER THAN ECGC AND AIC)

विषय: कोविद-19 की स्थिति के परिणामस्वरूप लॉकडाउन अवधि (25 मार्च, 2020 से 3 मई, 2020) के दौरान देय होने वाली स्वास्थ्य बीमा पालिसियों के नवीकरण के लिए प्रीमियम भुगतान।

Re: Premium payment for renewal of Health Insurance policies falling due during the lockdown period ( 25th March, 2020 to 3rd May, 2020) as a result of COVID 19 situation.

परिपत्र संदर्भः आईआरडीएआई/एचएलटी/सीआईआर/एमआईएससी/078/04/2020 दिनांक 2 अप्रैल 2020 के अनुक्रम में इसके द्वारा सूचित किया जाता है कि वित्तीय सेवाएँ विभाग, भारत सरकार ने अधिसूचना दिनांक 15 अप्रैल 2020 जारी की है जिसमें उसने उक्त विषय पर एस.ओ. 1238 (ई) दिनांक 1 अप्रैल 2020 के आदेश को संशोधित किया है।

Further to Circular Ref: IRDAI/HLT/CIR/MISC/078/04/2020 dated 2nd April, 2020, it is hereby informed that the Department of Financial Services, Government of India has issued Notification dated 15th April, 2020 wherein it has amended the Order issued vide S.O.1238(E) dated 1st April, 2020 on the subject.

2. उपर्युक्त संशोधन के द्वारा, केंद्र सरकार ने निर्देश दिया है कि पालिसीधारक जिनकी स्वास्थ्य बीमा पालिसियाँ 25 मार्च, 2020 को और उस तारीख से 3 मई, 2020 तक की अवधि के दौरान नवीकरण के लिए अपेक्षित हैं तथा कोरोना वायरस रोग (कोविद-19) के परिणामस्वरूप देश में व्याप्त स्थिति को देखते हुए समय पर नवीकरण प्रीमियम भुगतान करने में असमर्थ हैं, को अनुमति दी गई है कि वे अपने बीमाकर्ताओं को पालिसियों के नवीकरण के लिए इस प्रकार का भुगतान 15 मई, 2020 को अथवा उससे पहले करें जिससे उस तारीख जब पालिसी नवीकरण के लिए नियत है, से स्वास्थ्य बीमा कवर की निरंतरता सुनिश्चित की जा सके, ताकि अनुग्रह अवधि के दौरान उत्पन्न किसी भी वैध दावे का भुगतान किया जा सके।

Vide the above amendment, the Central Government has directed that the policyholders whose health insurance policies fall due for renewal during the period on and from the 25th March, 2020 up to the 3rd May, 2020 and who are unable to make payment of their renewal premium on time in view of the prevailing situation in the country as a result of Corona Virus disease (COVID 19) are allowed to make such payment for renewal of their policies to their insurers on or before 15th May, 2020 to ensure continuity of the health insurance cover from the date on which the policy falls due for renewal, so that any valid claim triggered during the grace period can be paid.

3. कृपया ध्यान दें कि पालिसीधारक सर्विसिंग के संबंध में परिपत्र संदर्भः आईआरडीएआई/ एचएलटी/सीआईआर/एमआईएससी/078/04/2020 दिनांक 2 अप्रैल 2020 के पैरा 3 में निहित सभी अनुदेश आवश्यक परिवर्तनों सहित लागू होंगे।

Kindly note that all instructions in para 3 of Circular Ref: IRDAI/HLT/CIR/MISC/078/04/2020 dated 2nd April, 2020 with regard to policyholder servicing shall apply mutatis mutandis.
