IRDAI (Insurance Surveyors and Loss Assessors)  Regulations, 2015  (SLA Regulations) were notified on 30^th October, 2015 pursuant  to the Insurance Laws(Amendment) Act, 2015.   

Subsequently, various representations and grievances received from the surveyors on the applicability of some of the regulations such as, acquisition of qualifications  from AICTE approved Institution, acquisition of the qualifications by the existing surveyors who were categorized during 2002 based on their eligibility criteria, affairs  pertaining to IIISLA etc. 

Some of the policy matters were examined by Surveyors and Loss Assessors Committee constituted under Reg. 10 of the SLA Regulations and the Committee gave various Recommendations to the Authority.   IIISLA also made certain representations to the Authority on the regulations.

The Authority has examined these representations, recommendations and also grievances received from the Surveyors and aspirants over a period of time.  To address these issues, it is proposed to issue the amendments to the IRDAI (Insurance Surveyors and Loss Assessors) Regulations, 2015.

Accordingly, an exposure draft on IRDAI (Insurance Surveyors and Loss Assessors) (First Amendment) Regulations, 2016 is proposed which is attached herewith as Exhibit 1, seeking comments. All stakeholders are requested to review the attached exposure draft and forward their views / comments in the format provided in Exhibit 2 to the following address before 3rd October,  2016.
