Chairman's Message
It gives me immense pleasure to reach out to all the policyholders and the general public through IRDAI's exclusive Consumer Education Website. I extend my warm greetings to all of you interested in learning about various aspects of insurance. Insurance, as a financial product has graduated from being a choice of a selected few to a necessity for all. This tectonic shift in the general perception and attitude towards insurance can be attributed to the nature of the time in which we live and also to the ever increasing need for an effective risk protection mechanism which is imperative in the modern world.
The Consumer Education Website has been started with the aim to serve as a single point reference for hosting content related to various basic concepts of insurance that a policyholder needs to be aware of. It hosts a wide range of material including handbooks on various types of insurance available in eleven Indian languages, do's and don'ts while buying various insurance policies, procedure for submitting claims and grievance redress mechanism. However, there is always scope for continuous improvement and hence suggestions and inputs are welcome from all the stakeholders in order to improve the design and the content of the website so as to make it more user friendly and more informative.
